USS Dyess Association 7th Annual Reunion
We will be visiting the city of Nashville, TN from September 8-11, 2010. Our host hotel will be the Radisson Hotel at Opryland located 8 miles from the airport and easy driving from the north, east, south or west. The Radisson Hotel at Opryland also offers Free Shuttle Service to/from Gaylord Hotel Opryland, General Jackson Showboat, Opry Mill Malls, Grand Ole Opry and Gaylord Springs Golf Links
Reservations for the reunion may be made by calling 615-889-0800 or 1-800-395-7046 and mention you are with the USS Dyess reunion. Room rates are $99.00 + tax per night. Three days before and after you may make reservations at the same price for those wishing to stay longer in Nashville. The hotels cancellation policy is you may cancel within 24 hours of the event. We have booked rooms and as the hotel is quite large so if we need more rooms they are available.
We are planning a great banquet for all who attend. We will have a photographer, dinner buffet, planning on having entertainment for your enjoyment. The association will pay for the buffet dinner for members and their spouces, in some cases we will pay if the member is accompanied by a family member or a long time companion after review by the committee. Members must be paid up for 2009/2010 to receive the free buffet dinner.
Nashville International Airport is located just eight miles from Radisson Hotel at Opryland and offers over 350 daily flights into and out of Music City USA through various airlines, including Southwest Airlines!
Airport Shuttle transportation is provided between 5:00 am - 11:00 pm, seven days a week. Guests may purchase tickets at the Gaylord Information Desk, located on the airport's Transportation Level.
Our Wildhorse Saloon/Downtown District Shuttle travels from the hotel and Radisson Hotel at Opryland to the Ryman Auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame, Wildhorse Saloon and back.
The Radisson Hotel at Opryland features 303 standard guest rooms including 2 suites. In-room amenities include: complimentary High-Speed Internet, data ports, voice mail, on-demand movies, coffee makers, hair dryers and ironing boards. The Radisson Hotel at Opryland is a smoke-free property. The Reunion Committee for the USS Dyess Association would like to invite you to attend our annual reunion, being held this year in Nashville TN on September 8 thru 11, 2010. Our web site. www.ussdyessdd-ddr.com has complete details on the reunion, including information on the host Radisson Hotel at Opryland and of all the other special events planned.
To encourage attendance, our Board of Directors has authorized reimbursement for the banquet cost (member and spouse*)for all members whose dues are paid for both the 2009 and 2010 years. Additionally, the banquet cost is being waived for all Life members and their spouses*(*Note: In lieu of a spouse a “paid up member” may elect to bring a longtime significant other)
I urge you to not only consider the “free banquet meal” offer but to take advantage of thisopportunity to meet with old shipmates and rekindle friendships.
Do not forget to bring an item with you to be auctioned off on Saturday morning. This is lots of
fun for all.

Nashville Reunion Itinerary
Wednesday Sep 8th
The beginning of 4 days of fun with old and new shipmates. The registration of shipmates and guest will be commencing at 12:30PM. The Dyess hospitality room will be open for all to enjoy. There will be refreshments a waiting you and this is a good place to once again get together and say hello. Lunch and dinner are on your own. There are many eating establishments in the area plus one at the hotel.
Thursday Sep 9th
General Jackson River Boat Cruise. The boarding at the pier starts at 11:15 AM. The shuttle will take us to the General Jackson. The cruise is approximately 2 ½ hours. Luncheon and entertainment will be supplied on the General Jackson. You will be notified before hand at the times to depart the hotel. The cost is $56.00 per person. The hospitality room will be open after the tour for your enjoyment.
Friday Sep 10th
This is a free day for you to explore what Nashville has to offer. The Grand Ole Opry shows starts at 7 PM. Again, you will be notified when the shuttle will take you to the auditorium. The show is two hours long to see some of your favorite country singers and reminisce the old days. For this show there are two different prices. 1.Gold Circle seats (front of stage) the cost is $54.00 per person. 2. Tier 2 seats (rest of the house) the cost is $38.00 per person. You can choose either of the ones you want on the registration form. The hospitality room is open for your enjoyment during the day and after the show.
Saturday Sep 11th
The business meeting for the association will be held for shipmates at 9 AM followed by the auction for all to bid on merchandise which shipmates have brought with them from there areas. After the auction you will again have free time to relax, go shopping or whatever you desire to do. At 6 PM we will gather for group photos. We may have a professional photographer present for the group shots. The dinner buffet will start at 7 PM in a ballroom to be announced at the reunion. After the meal and few speeches we can retire to the hospitality room or go out on the town.
